Bags packed, kit tested and team briefing completed.
The Expedition Team are officially heading into the Okavango Delta, Botswana.
I first had the inspiration to embark on an expedition across the Okavango Delta several years ago, after watching the premier of Ollie Pemberton's film 'Into the Okavango' at the Royal Geographical Society. Two years later, I launched Echoes of the Okavango in the very same room at the Royal Geographical Society's Explore Symposium.
And eight months later, here we are - embarking on Expedition to Kayak across the Okavango Delta.
It's a surreal feeling being here, years of dreaming, months of planning and preparing - and now we're finally here.
It's been a rollercoaster of a journey, many highs, a few lows, and a few moments in which it seemed like making this dream a reality wasn't possible.
This whole Expedition wouldn't be possible without the support of some incredible people. I can't name them all here, but just to mention a few:
- All our Expedition Team
- Matt Davies
- James Dyer
- Sal Montgomery
- Paul Pinder
- Chris Gibson
- Jim
- Amy Wade
- Gerard
- Olly Pemberton; for making the film that inspired this Expedition!
- Remote Area Risk International
- LifeSystems
- NRS
- SOS International
- Venture Beyond
- Royal Geographical Society
Plus a massive thanks to everyone that's sent their best wishes, offered support and listened to me talking about the Okavango for hours on end!
See you on the other side.
Jay.
